Finishing

Drywall finishing ensures quality and sets up your home to look better than ever.

The best way to ensure quality

The specifications of your home require different kinds of finishes. Minneapolis Drywall ensures that you’re receiving the right kind for the designated areas in your home. Here’s an overview of what to expect.

Level 1

This is for low traffic areas of your house. Often used for service corridors and attics.

Level 2

This is mainly used for storage areas. In a level 2 finish, all of the joints and interior angles are taped, covered with joint compound and wiped down with a knife. There may still be some ridges or tool marks left over.

Level 3

Areas with texture or heavy grade wall coverings require a level 3 finish. More time is spent on the finish to ensure the joint compound is smooth.

Level 4

When your project calls for flat paint, light texturizing or or lightweight wall covering, a Level 4 finish is recommended. The fastener heads and accessories are covered with 3 coats of joint compound and completely free of tool marks and ridges.

Level 5

Level 5 finishes are recommended for rooms with strong lighting and where non-textured flat paints will be used. Level 5 is very similar to level 4, but adds a thin skim coat to the entire surface to conceal any imperfections and ensures the utmost quality.
